What Areas in Your Home Need More Ventilation?

August 5, 2019

Having the proper ventilation can make your home much more comfortable for you and your family. To get proper ventilation, you need to focus on a couple of key rooms in your house. Areas with a lot of moisture are especially important. Read on to learn more about the places in your home that need more ventilation.

Bathroom

A bathroom is a place in your home that accumulates a lot of moisture. This is especially true when people shower or take baths. The moisture sticks in the air. If you’re not careful, it can cause mold and bad smells. Try installing fans and keeping the door open after you’ve taken a shower. If your bathroom is located in a private corner of your home, you can also consider putting a window near the shower.

Basement

Basements are often home to a washer and multifunctional sink. This area can also end up taking in water due to heavy rains or plumbing issues. If you notice more moisture in your home than there should be, call an HVAC professional to find a solution. They can identify any ventilation problems and fix them. They may also be able to install dehumidifiers or fans to help keep things dry.

Attic

When the rain comes down, it can seep into your attic. Many people won’t even notice a problem at first since most of us don’t go into the attic very often. Stop a problem before it starts by ventilating your attic. Install windows and even consider some fans, too. Be sure to check on how your attic looks every now and then so you don’t allow a small problem to get much bigger. You’ll also want to make sure your air filters get changed regularly so that the area is ventilated properly.
